Description  

Are you interested in protecting marine biodiversity and helping society use the marine environment in a sustainable way? Do you have a scientific background and the ability to apply your skills and knowledge to working as an independent advisor to the UK Government and the Devolved Administrations?

JNCC is seeking an enthusiastic individual to take on the role of Marine Mapping Scientist in the Marine Evidence Team, based in Peterborough. You will assist with the mapping, collation, management and dissemination of seabed habitat data to inform UK and international nature conservation and contribute to the EMODnet Seabed Habitats project.

You will require expertise in the use of GIS and databases as well a broad knowledge of UK marine habitats and marine nature conservation theory and practice. All candidates that are invited to interview will be asked to carry out a GIS and data assessment test on the day.
