Job Description
As a Marine Discovery Centre (MDC) Manager, your scope of work will include:
MDC Project Management
- Oversee Seamarc operations at the MDC, Kuda Huraa, while maintaining a full working knowledge and active participation in all areas of MDC work.
- Supervise and support the Coral Biologist and their project assistant(s) in the running and maintenance of the Coral Propagation Project, at times this will require active involvement.
- Supervise and support the Turtle Biologist and their project assistant(s) in the running and maintenance of the Maldives Sea Turtle Conservation Projects, at times this will require active involvement.
- Supervise and support the Marine Biologist(s) in all aspects of their work, including, data collection guided excursions and presentations, at times this will require active involvement.
- Supervise and organise the Seamarc Internship Program at Four Seasons Kuda Huraa.
- Supervise and organise the Seamarc Eco-Volunteer Program at Four Seasons Kuda Huraa.
- Supervise and organise the Four Seasons apprenticeship programs (MDC segment), which includes an environmental awareness class and a rotation of the apprentices through the department.
- Develop, supervise and organise all and any education and outreach programs.
- Produce a monthly report, including project progress and forecast development for the following month, pulling together and editing the work of the relative project managers.
- Manage and maintain MDC stocks, create purchase orders for necessary equipment, filing and report MDC receipts to the Four Seasons Finance Department.
- Collaborate with other marine biologists in the region in order to improve our knowledge of the coral reefs and the associated species.
- Attend and arrange environmentally minded events, workshops and presentations to stay up to date on current issues and meet existing and potential project partners.
- Ensure safe dive practices are followed by all staff
- Manage staff leave, replacement and rotation between the three Four Seasons properties in Maldives, in coordination with the MDC Manager at Landaa Giraavaru.
- Conduct and chair weekly MDC departmental meeting and bi-monthly project managers meeting
- You will be responsible for keeping an updated record of staff movements including days off and leave.
- Monitor and maintain staff time keeping, discipline and dress code.
- As the position is within Four Seasons, employees are required to follow the Four Seasons Service and Culture Standards at all times, a copy of which will be provided upon selection for the position but prior to your acceptance.
- Participate in any Four Season resort staff training sessions as required.
- Ensure that guests are greeted by staff on arrival, guiding them around the MDC and explaining the various programs currently being conducted.
- Attend the Managers 'Cocktails Event once a week to meet guests of the resort.
- Attend the managers’ morning briefing at least twice a week, to raise resort staff awareness about current MDC projects, while staying up to date with other the resort and its departments.
- Attended any and all departmental meetings when invited and as required.
- Explain and promote the projects carried out by Seamarc and Four Seasons to the journalists and tour operators which will be organized by the Four Seasons, public relation department.
- Encourage a positive sales environment, link projects with Four Seasons activities and look to push and develop coral frame sales where possible.
- Maintain all parts of the MDC and its projects.
- Liaise with the Four Seasons engineering department and create work orders to arrange maintenance work or development of infrastructure.
- Ensure the safe use and maintenance of all equipment, including the MDC Dive equipment and Whaler, while inforcing any all rules as they pertain to their specific uses.
- Raise work orders as required to complete all and any necessary maintenance of the MDC.
- Participate in the design of any new infrastructures, relaying information between Seamarc head office and Four Seasons
MDC Staff Management

Salary and benefits
- The salary for this position is $1500 USD per month plus commission.
- Return flights from the applicant’s point of relocation.
- 36 days annual leave, 10 days paid sick leave, 10 days bereavement leave and one day off per week.
