Marine Dimensions is currently seeking Marine and Coastal Conservation Volunteers to assist on our education and research programmes.

About us

Marine Dimensions is a small non profit that is dedicated to marine environmental outreach, research and conservation. Our mission is to enhance understanding and appreciation of marine biodiversity through education, research and community based participation.

Projects and activities

We run an active education programme, including marine wildlife courses and workshops for all age groups. Our marine biologists regularly visit schools and attend public events. We also run community based conservation and citizen science projects, including shark and marine mammal research programmes.

Our volunteering programme

Marine Dimensions volunteering positions are a fantastic way to gain valuable experience in an interesting and meaningful work environment. Our placements are ideal for graduates who are keen to pursue a career in environmental education or research. We also provide exciting opportunities for nature enthusiasts who are keen to get involved in marine conservation.

What do we offer?

• Experience working with the public, assisting on events and delivering an active education and outreach programme.

• Opportunities for developing and improving communications skills, including innovative techniques associated with the latest trends in outdoor learning and digital media.

• Training and experience in marine and coastal wildlife identification skills, including survey techniques and database management.

• Your name on publications and reports associated with our education and research programmes.

• A feel for what life is like working in an NGO environment.


Current opportunities

We are currently recruiting for the following positions in 2016.  Each placement runs for a period of 1-2 weeks through one of 2 seasonal terms, ie. either Summer or Autumn.  Applicants may apply for one or more terms: 

Placement dates:

Summer term;

13th - 19th August,

20th - 26th August, 

Autumn term;

22nd - 28th October, 

29th October - 4th November.
