Lecturer (Conservation or Animal Behaviour & Welfare)

Three roles are available:

1. Part-time Permanent, 30 hours per week, Salary £21,923 per annum (pro-rated amount)
2. Part-time Permanent, 30 hours per week, Salary £21,923 per annum (pro-rated amount)
3. Full-time Permanent, 37.5 hours per week, Salary £27,404 per annum

The Bristol Zoological Society is a conservation charity that works in 10 countries around the world in applied conservation and runs two zoos and a number of Higher Education programmes in collaboration with the university/college partner institutions. We are looking for three dynamic and experienced individuals to join our team with broad academic knowledge, experience and/or understanding of conservation or animal behavior and welfare.  Experience in relevant research methods (conservation/ecology/animal behavior or social research) and application of those methods is required. We are particularly interested in applicants with experience in the applied conservation, or study of the behaviour and welfare, of the following taxonomic groups: amphibians, reptiles, terrestrial invertebrates or birds. Your role will be crucial in helping us complete our mission of saving wildlife together and deliver excellent Higher Education programmes. 

Main Responsibilities

• HE Teaching and Supervision: The successful applicants will lead modules (undergraduate or masters level) and supervise and mark research projects at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
• Conservation or Animal Behavior & Welfare Project Management: Contribute to the development and management of one of our conservation projects, or captive animal behavior and welfare projects, alongside current project leads and the Head of the Field Conservation and Science Department.
• There may be occasions when the post holder is requested to work in other Society locations, or carry out other duties considered reasonable by the Society or its representatives.
