Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a lawyer to make a key contribution to the work of our Company & Financial Project.

ClientEarth is a member of the Commonwealth Climate and Law Initiative (CCLI) which has a goal of promoting a rapid behavioural transformation of corporate governance policy and practice in relation to climate change risks. During 2017, the CCLI will be organising a series of symposia in Commonwealth countries alongside published reports communicating the output of the research programme.

You will represent ClientEarth at the CCLI and be responsible for managing ClientEarth’s legal research and analysis on behalf of the CCLI. This requires examining the legal basis for directors to take account of, and disclose, climate change risks and the societal response to climate change under prevailing statutory and common law.

The successful candidate will be a versatile lawyer with relevant legal experience in a corporate governance setting and experience of advising listed companies on these matters. More generally, you will be highly organised, a strategic thinker, able to apply legal skills creatively, an excellent communicator and comfortable conveying complex ideas to a wide variety of audiences. You are committed to environmental issues, social justice and to urgent action on climate change.
