Job Title:

Landscape Community Organising Officer

Contract type:

Full-time (37.5hrs) fixed term post for 24 month

Closing Date:

18th of May 2023

Interview Date:

24th of May 2023

Salary:

£25000 to £2700 pa, depending on experience.

Based in:

Head Office - Tyland Barn, Chatham Rd, Sandling, Maidstone ME14 3BD. However, we expect the majority of work to take place in person in communities in Kent.

We are unable to recruit anyone who does not have a right to work in the UK.

Globally and nationally wildlife is in steep decline. We appear to be reaching critical tipping points around the loss of biodiversity as well as around climate change, both being interlinked. Human society cannot prosper without wildlife and healthy ecosystems.???

Kent’s wildlife needs to be restored to much higher levels. We can no longer allow common things to become rare. We can only do this by restoring large-scale natural habitat areas and processes. Doing this will contribute to solving global problems. But we won’t be able to do this unless we publicly aspire to a higher level of impact and show that we can deliver this.

Kent Wildlife Trust is the leading wildlife charity for Kent and Medway, supported by its members and staffed by committed professionals.  Join our team and help us create a Wilder Kent! In return we will inspire you, listen to you, value you, treat you equally and fairly, look after your health and wellbeing and encourage flexibility from day one, enabling you to draw on these benefits to be a better, happier and more productive you.

The Job

Kent Wildlife Trust are working to facilitate nature’s recovery across the landscape and within the communities we work alongside, and we know that if nature is to be restored at scale, we need many more people on nature’s side.

We are looking for a talented community organiser to work on our wilding work which includes multiple landscape restoration and species reintroduction projects at Kent Wildlife Trust.

You

You are someone who is highly personable, passionate and organised. You are equally comfortable building relationships in communities as you are engaging with local politicians.

You are committed to supporting community powered change and facilitating local people to empower themselves to act for nature.

You are passionate about landscape restoration and species reintroductions and the opportunities and barriers involved. You are driven to ensure conservation recognises, and acts upon, the value of involving diverse stakeholders within landscape restoration and species reintroduction work.

We are looking for someone who is willing to take responsibility and show courage and integrity.  If you feel this is the role for you then we look forward to hearing from you.

The Kent Wildlife Trust Group undertakes criminal records checks to ensure that employees and volunteers aged 16 or over have nothing on their record that makes them unsuitable to work or volunteer in roles that have contact with children, young people and adults at risk. Each role is checked using the DBS Eligibility Tool prior to recruitment. Roles are rechecked prior to duties changing and a different level of check may be needed or new check altogether undertaken. Appointment is dependent upon a satisfactory DBS.
