The Junior Climate Analyst has an active role in data gathering, sorting, analysis and inputting into our carbon emissions calculator tools, in addition to conducting industry research and writing reports for client projects with guidance from Analysts and Senior Analysts. This role has direct contact with clients with regards to data gathering, ad hoc requests and presenting results to the client.

Key Responsibilities

Delivering all aspects (data collection and analysis, report writing, communication) of client projects within Green Element’s analysis services:

• Collect and sort project data including liaising with clients and their suppliers, providing data collection guidance, monitoring data collection progress and quality checking data.

• Input project data via Excel and Compare Your Footprint including troubleshooting entry of complex data sets.

• Creating bespoke carbon footprint reports, including identifying carbon hotspots.

• Make general and bespoke recommendations to clients on how they can reduce GHG emissions in line with a science-based targets trajectory. Use analysis techniques to model the emissions reductions associated with recommended actions.

• Calculate and communicate science-based targets, ensuring to use relevant sector specific guidance. Consider how these fit into a client’s business model and reflect accordingly.

• Submit and help validate science-based targets (SBTs) on behalf of SME and corporate clients to the SBTi with the support of Analysts and Senior Analysts, including sector-specific targets, and support clients through target validation.

• Clearly explain and discuss project results to clients via reports written in PowerPoint, Excel or Word documents, with the support of Analysts and Senior Analysts.

• Assist clients with the external third-party verification of their company or product carbon footprints via audits (providing data and methodology information to auditors and re-formatting carbon footprint results to meet auditors’ requirements).

• Help identify clients with mandatory compliance reporting (e.g. Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR), Carbon Reduction Plans (CDP), and keep on top of upcoming compliance.

• Support clients with voluntary reporting such as Climate Disclosure Project (CDP), EcoVadis and B Impact Assessments.

Project managing the day-to-day requirements of assigned client projects (with the assistance of Analysts and Senior Analysts for more complex projects):

• Respond to client emails, and organise and lead meetings with clients.

• Proactively manage the time spent on the client’s project to ensure that hours worked remain within the boundary of the proposal and projects are delivered to agreed deadlines.

• Identify opportunities to add services onto existing contracts as required by the client and communicate this to the Sales team.

• Accurately log hours into a time management software.

• Assist with client renewals and proposals.

Research and development:

• Help build Green Element Group’s carbon conversion factor database and build on existing or develop new internal carbon footprint methodologies.

• Research industry specific benchmarking data to help clients to compare their results with similar companies within their industry sector.

• Research industry specific carbon emissions reduction opportunities/schemes/projects/opportunities to potentially feed into client strategy.
