The opportunity

The key responsibility for this role, under the direction of the Principal Arboricultural Consultant and Natural Environment Manager, is to support the existing arboriculture team, contributing to the delivery of professional, client-focused arboricultural services that support the commercial viability of Place Services.

The role requires an arboricultural background with understanding of practical tree management operations and/or tree inspection and assessment methodologies. You will deliver arboricultural services to public and private sector clients, working in multi-disciplinary teams with other Place Services specialists to contribute to a sustainable operation.

Using your professional skills, knowledge and experience, you will help to identify opportunities that deliver commercial success for the team, whilst actively keeping up to date within your specialism. You will be responsible for ensuring effective contract management to time, budget and specification, contributing to invoicing and other administrative requirements as directed.

By establishing and maintaining good working relationships with internal and external customers, you will contribute to ensuring successful business outcomes, providing support and assistance to colleagues to contribute to creating a positive team culture. You will have responsibility for identifying and mitigating areas of risk, including Health and Safety, to ensure safe and continuous service delivery.

Knowledge, skills and experience

• RQF Level 3 qualification in Arboriculture, or an alternative, relevant professional qualification, or evidence of relevant experience.
• Evidence of continuous professional development with knowledge of relevant professional area.
• Knowledge of tree species and arboricultural principles, and practical tree management operations or tree survey methodologies for a variety of purposes.
• Knowledge and understanding of pests and diseases affecting trees in the UK.
• Good written and verbal communication skills, with experience of dealing effectively with people in difficult situations.
• Able to prioritise work whilst maintaining focus on key projects or activities, within defined timescales.
• Competent in IT with knowledge and understanding of the MS Office suite of programmes.
• Understanding of commercial practices and maintaining a sustainable operation.
