We’re the environment’s best kept secret. Established in 1991, we’re the UK’s statutory adviser on issues affecting the natural environment across the UK and internationally. Our primary role is advising all four Governments of the UK. With most of our work being within Government, our public profile is low but our impact is high.

What’s the role?

As an IT technical support officer, you’ll work as part of a Team monitor and maintain the computer systems and networks of the JNCC. You will be installing and configuring computer systems, diagnosing hardware and software faults and solving technical and applications problems, either over the phone or in person.

This particular post will have an added responsibility of specialising in monitoring, managing and developing the JNCC Office 365 environment.

You can also work within first or second-line support. The work is as much about understanding how information systems are used as applying technical knowledge related to computer hardware or software.

You’ll be working closely with the Information Management team, who are creating related policies and procedures that will need to translate into technical outputs.

This is an excellent opportunity for you to build on your existing skills and deepen your knowledge in current and emerging technologies. Training will be provided to meet your needs; all you need to supply is the energy and drive to learn these new technologies and deliver and excellent quality of service.
