The mission of The Nature Conservancy is to preserve the plants, animals and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth by protecting the lands and waters they need to survive.
The Humboldt Current Fisheries Specialist leads The Nature Conservancy’s efforts to work with government agencies, local communities, the private sector, and other organizations in Peru and Chile, under the framework of TNC’s Humboldt Project of the Southern Andes Conservation Program, to put in place practices that will lead to sustainable harvests of fishing resources and effective conservation of marine habitats. The Fisheries Specialist will be responsible for designing and implementing strategies aimed at reducing overfishing, rebuilding stocks, establish sound fishing practices and securing that ecosystem considerations are taken into account in the management of industrial and artisanal fisheries.
The Fisheries Specialist reports to the Humboldt Current Project Manager.
