Description

Do you love the outdoors and want to shout about it??

Do you want to turn your environmental passion into practical activity?

We are looking to take on a part time intern (3 days per week) and provide that person with a training experience in the conservation sector which will equip them with the skills and experience required to confidently deliver environmental education programmes.  The Intern will develop their knowledge of practical conservation, the ecology and management of a semi-natural habitat and work with a variety of experts, volunteers and conservation partners.

Ideally the successful applicants will have a conservation or environmental degree, HND or NVQ (or relevant experience) and preferably hold a first aid certificate.  You will need your own transport and be willing to travel around the county.  The national living wage (£8.36-£8.91 per hour, age dependent) will be payable to assist the candidate.

The Intern will support the Hedgerow Heritage Project Manager with the delivery of school and other local community hedgelaying and surveying events and workshops, assist with the coordination of volunteer hedgerow surveys and development of a GIS-based hedgerow condition inventory; learn to lead volunteer hedge planting and laying work parties plus liaise with landowners, schools, local community groups and project partners, as required.  The Intern will also contribute content to our website and social media channels and assist with guided walks.

To apply for this exciting opportunity, please send a completed application form, available on our website, to Katy Fielding, HH Project and Conservation Manager katy.fielding@surreywt.org.uk by midday Thursday 9th September.

Interviews will be held during week commencing 27th September 2021.
