Description

Based at Tyland Barn, Maidstone with some opportunity for home working and with frequent travel to all our hubs across Kent.

Globally and nationally wildlife is in steep decline. We appear to be reaching critical tipping points around the loss of biodiversity as well as around climate change, both being interlinked. Human society cannot prosper without wildlife and healthy ecosystems.

Kent’s wildlife needs to be restored to much higher levels. We can no longer allow common things to become rare. We can only do this by restoring large-scale habitat from degraded land. Doing this will contribute to solving global problems. But we won’t be able to do this unless we publicly aspire to a higher level of impact and show that we can deliver this.

The Job:  The Kent Wildlife Trust Group (KWTG) is at a pivotal time in its growth and so we are now seeking an experienced Health and Safety Officer to strengthen our core operations function and ensure we are compliant in all H&S areas, building on the great work the team has started including a recent update to our policy and competency framework.  This is a new role, which needs committed energy, initiative and drive but in return will be very much influenced by your creativity and experience.

You:  A determined yet friendly, professional and resourceful approach will be required and the ability to deal with a wide range of people and situations.  The post requires frequent travel around the Trust sites in Kent and as such a driving licence is essential for this position, as is access to a car with business use insurance.

We are looking for the right person who has the approach an ethos that fits in with our cultural pillars of agility, courage, accountability, collaboration, growing people and inclusive and diverse.  As this is a core operational role advising on varied work areas and projects, we do have some minimum qualifications that we desire, but you may not meet all these requirements on paper and so we are also open to providing training and development for the right person.

Kent Wildlife Trust is the leading wildlife charity for Kent and Medway, supported by its members and staffed by committed professionals.  Join our team and help us create a Wilder Kent! In return we will inspire you, listen to you, value you, treat you equally and fairly, look after your health and wellbeing and encourage flexibility from day one, enabling you to draw on these benefits to be a better, happier and more productive you.
