Last year, WWF launched a new strategy that harnesses the strengths of the WWF network in a shared vision, focussing on six major goals - water, wildlife, the ocean, climate and energy, forests, and food – and three key drivers of environmental problems – markets, finance and governance. In support of this strategy WWF undertook a redesign of its international secretariat that will further unite WWF offices and its near 6,400 staff around the world. This will help WWF to build stronger partnerships across the world with government, business, civil society and individuals. Together, we will deliver on WWF’s ambitious goals. We are recruiting the role of Head of Global Campaigns for our International Secretariat to help us achieve our new ambitious goals, and build a future where people live in harmony with nature.
Location:
WWF Office in Woking, United Kingdom.
The Role:
The Head of Global Campaigns directs and oversees the development of campaign strategy, project plan and budget, and leads the implementation of the global campaign. He/she will work with all practice and network campaign stakeholders to ensure engagement, alignment and coordination.
Main responsibilities:
- Ensures the implementation of the global campaign strategy;
- Works with all practice and network campaign stakeholders to ensure engagement, alignment and coordination
- Ensures implementation of campaigns contributes to the growth of Practices through a focus on how campaigning will accelerate the achievement of the network’s conservation priorities;
- Oversees external vendor relationships and ensures that quality work is delivered;
- Provides advice and assistance during the development of global campaign concepts;
- Provides strategic network updates on campaign progress, challenges and opportunities;
- Coordinates with communication and policy leaders in the Network, Practices and the Secretariat to ensure globally consistent and coordinated campaign approach;
- Manages the team and provides guidance, setting objectives and completing performance evaluations.
- Performs other duties as requested by the Director.
Required Qualifications, Skills and Competencies
- Proven experience in leading and implementing campaign strategies and advocacy work.
- Understanding of, and experience in, WWF campaigns is essential.
- Demonstrated leadership ability, including the ability to build a team of highly motivated and well-qualified staff, and to foster the integration of diverse, multi-disciplinary actors into focused initiatives addressing clear targets.
- Expertise in campaigning techniques, policies, strategies, target audience analysis, structure and impact.
- Long-term planning and analytical skills, as well as demonstrated ability to multi-task and work effectively to tight deadlines without compromising quality.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate complex issues in a clear manner to a wide variety of audiences across diverse channels.
- Strong command of written English is essential.
- Willingness to step in and lead individual campaigns, or campaign actions, when necessary.
- Strong strategic and analytical skills, including an ability to analyze political dynamics, which drive positive results.
- Fluent English is essential; other languages would be an asset.
