Fife Coast and Countryside Trust (FCCT) is an independent charitable trust who works to promote, manage, and maintain Fife’s exceptional outdoor spaces. Facilities Lead Operative

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and proactive individual to join our Operations Team as ‘Facilities Lead Operative’. Reporting to the Field Teams Manager, the successful candidate will be an integral part in driving our work forward and will plan, co-ordinate, carry out and supervise cleaning and basic maintenance tasks on all building facilities sites under the management of Fife Coast & Countryside Trust.

Essential Characteristics (include but are not limited to):

 

  • At least 24-months experience of working in a supervisory facility role.
  • Experience in basic plumbing tasks and other basic maintenance tasks.
  • A good understanding of Health & Safety at work and Legionella legislation.
  • A current first aid certificate.
  • Able to develop and maintain good working relationships with a wide range of people.
  • Good organisational skills and demonstrating the ability to prioritise workloads and co-ordinate resources.
  • Willingness to undergo training in any of the required certificates or those deemed essential to the requirements of the role.
  • Enthusiasm for the role and flexibility to meet changing needs.
  • Adaptable and motivational team worker.
  • Able to carry out the duties of the post.

This is a full-time (36 hours per week) permanent post, with an annual salary from £25,829 to £28,251 (FC5). Work is to be delivered over a five-day week but will include some evening and weekend work as required.

Conservation Officer

We are currently seeking a ‘Conservation Officer’ who will be an integral part in driving our work forward. We believe that our people are our greatest asset and look to employ individuals who bring a positive, energetic, constructive, and committed attitude to the workplace.

The Conservation will be part of the FCCT Conservation and Engagement (C&E) team and will conduct conservation and community engagement activities to further the aims and objectives of the FCCT conservation agenda and Fife Biodiversity Action Plan. The postholder will work closely with other partner agencies including Fife Council and other third sector organisations and will be focused on time bound conservation projects with specified outcomes.

Essential characteristics (including but not limited to):

  • Educated to SQF level 8, which includes a Higher National Diploma or above in a relevant subject
  • Knowledge of national and international environmental and conservation agendas
  • Training in, and practical experience of, ecological survey data gathering techniques.
  • Experience working with school/community groups and with diverse groups from varied backgrounds.
  • Project management experience within conservation and community engagement.
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering projects on time and to a budget.
  • Experience of delivering projects with a wide range of stakeholder groups.
  • Diplomatic and flexible.
  • Good understanding of the Scottish Biodiversity Strategy and how this relates to the regional context.
  • Flexible mindset, able to be self-critical.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with a friendly, approachable style.
  • Confident leading large (20+) groups with experience of managing and working with volunteers.
  • Clear grasp of the Scottish Outdoor Access Code.
  • Able to understand their role within the broader organisational and conservation context.
  • Proven team player who can put the common interest before themselves.

 

This post is a full-time (36 hours per week) permanent post with an annual salary from £28,251 – £31,179. Work will typically be delivered over a five-day week but may include some evening and weekend work as required.

Maintenance Operative

We are currently seeking a ‘Maintenance Operative’ who will be an integral part in driving our work forward. The post holder will be placed within the Operations Team and will report to the Field Teams Manager. They will help undertake the day-to-day maintenance duties at all FCCT sites in accordance with our objectives outlined in the Service Level Agreement (SLA) with key stakeholders.

Essential characteristics:

· At least 12 months experience of working in a general ground’s maintenance role.

· Literate and numerate

· Working knowledge of safe working practices.

· Able to develop and maintain good working relationships with a wide range of people.

· Able to work as part of a team and take instruction.

· Willingness to use and act upon own initiative.

· Adaptable and motivated team worker

· Enthusiasm for the role and flexibility to meet changing needs.

· Valid driving licence.

· Good track record of collaborative working, developing, and maintaining effective relationships.

· Good standard of communication skills

· Responsible character, confident and capable of working independently.

· A suitable standard of fitness (able to walk 10 miles and use a range of power tools) and able to work in adverse weather conditions.

· Proactive and hard-working attitude.

· A demonstrable personal interest in the countryside and the outdoors.

· Excellent team player

This is a full-time (36 hours per week) post and has an annual salary from £23,633 – £25,829. Work will typically be delivered over a five-day week but may include weekend work and some evening work as required.
