Recently graduated with a relevant first degree or masters qualification, or with equivalent relevant practical experience, you are keen to start your career in transport.  You will have a broad knowledge of the transport planning context in London, the tenets of good highway and public realm design and some of the challenges associated with managing competing demands for road space and in particular parking.  You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and will be confident meeting and dealing with the public.  You have the ability to work on a wide range of projects quickly and efficiently with minimal supervision.  Above all you will be passionate about working collaboratively as part of an innovative team to develop the highway network in Hounslow to achieve our challenging targets to improve safety and facilitate increases in sustainable travel modes.

In return we offer clear career progression linked to achievement of targets, opportunities for further continuing professional development (the borough is a member of the Transport Planning Society and provides support to those seeking to gain TPP qualification) and first class flexible working opportunities.

For an informal discussion about the post and the team please contact Gareth.James@hounslow.gov.uk or 020 8583 5215.
