Description

An exciting opportunity has come forward for a graduate to support a 3 year regeneration programme to improve the river environment and green spaces across South Lincolnshire in Grantham & Sleaford. This is an exciting opportunity to influence the future environment through the management and delivery of innovative environmental improvement projects.

South Kesteven District Council has jointly bid for and successfully won an ERDF grant totalling £1.29 million and will be delivering this programme with partners:

  • North Kesteven District Council

  • National Trust

  • Environment Agency

  • Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust

  • Local Landowners

The graduate will report into a project manager and be responsible for: surveying the river environment, regular reporting, engaging with the funder, supporting contract management and shaping the outputs. The successful candidate will be integral part of a small team which includes key partners.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a graduate with a degree in an environmental based discipline who is keen to gain further practical experience in river and ecological management. We need an enthusiastic and committed person who will work with partners to ensure timely delivery & expenditure for a range of projects.

The purpose of the programme is to deliver 14 projects across the key river systems of the Witham and Slea to support wider regeneration within the towns such as: connectivity to housing sites, improving the habitat of the rivers and increasing local engagement with the environment.

The South and North Kesteven districts are predominantly rural market towns with significant environmental assets to be better developed and managed via this funded programme. The towns are hidden gems with the Lincolnshire area with an enhanced focus on sustainable growth and revitalisation of the locality. This challenging and exciting role offers a fantastic opportunity to achieve significant benefits for people and the environment.
