Description  

Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) is an executive agency of Scottish Government, managing the National Forest Estate (NFE) on behalf of Scottish Ministers.

FLS operates a regional business structure for the delivery of our work. There are five regions, each of which has responsibility for looking after Scotland’s forests and land for the benefit for all, now and for the future.

This role will be within our national Planning & Environment Team. The team provide strategic direction, support and guidance to the regions. Working in collaboration to deliver corporate targets, maintaining UKWAS (UK Woodland Assurance Standard) certification and contributing to smooth and efficient running of the business.

The team are based across Scotland, but primarily located within Inverness and Edinburgh. These roles can be based in any of our offices and will report to the GIS Support Team Manager. Under the current circumstances, there may be an expectation for home working, at least until offices re-open for members of staff.

Job description

You will provide technical and analytical support to staff for GIS systems/tools and data model development.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to colleagues across FLS with desktop, mobile and Forester Web GIS;
  • Provide support using the Logger service desk. Offer GIS guidance and advice, update user permissions and investigating any technical issues;
  • Analyse and report on system data for the organisation as and when required;
  • Support the organisation in developing and managing data models.
