Description  

The Natural and Environmental Research Council (NERC) is a partner organisation within UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). NERC funds world-class science in universities and our own research centres that increases knowledge and understanding of the natural world. The work of NERC covers the full range of atmospheric, earth, biological, terrestrial and aquatic sciences.

About the role

In response to Government recognition of the important role that Environmental Science plays in the economy and recent organisational changes to the research and innovation funding landscape, NERC is establishing a new ‘futures team’. The team will be responsible for identifying and developing ambitious opportunities and coalitions of support, to solve important real world challenges through environmental science and innovation.

This role will support the Head of Futures by researching new opportunities, undertaking market analysis work, supporting stakeholder and partner management activity and preparing and project managing funding bids.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a talented early-career professional to develop their understanding and experience of environmental science, business-research-innovation partnership development and multi-million pound funding bid management.

About you

You will be educated to degree level or equivalent, with the ability to demonstrate analytical and creative thinking.

You must have a good understanding of how businesses and markets work, with an understanding of business challenges and drivers as well as experience of building relationships and communicating effectively with people at all levels.

You must have experience of preparing business cases and business/commercial proposals and have the ability to identify opportunities and to work with others to address them.

Good organisational and project management skills with the ability to balance corporate, team and individual priorities and leadership styles as well as a proactive attitude, working independently under pressure, flexible and adaptable
