Description

The diverse nature of the Environment Agency provides ever-evolving challenges for our Flood & Coastal Risk Management teams. As a Flood & Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) Senior Advisor, you’ll develop schemes that reduce flood risk to people and property and ensure they are delivered to programme. You’ll work closely with stakeholders, including landowners, MPs or the council and lead negotiations to secure the funding required in order to make sure these important projects, which play a major part in helping to protect the homes and lives of residents from flooding, can proceed. Your day-to-day will bring interesting challenges and variety, and your efforts and experience will directly contribute to the valuable work we undertake as an agency to combat the ever-increasing problem of flood risk.

About you

Along with your degree in an environmental or engineering discipline, you’ll have a proven track record in flood risk management, including managing commercial and political aspects of your work. Capable and confident, you can show us where you’ve delivered Property Level Resilience schemes and worked collaboratively to overcome obstacles. Experience of managing flood risk in complex rural catchments would be an advantage. You have exceptional interpersonal skills and a natural talent for building excellent working relationships with both internal teams and external partners. Ideally, you’ll belong to, or be committed to achieving membership to, the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) or the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM).

About us

The Environment Agency operates at the place where environmental change has its greatest impact on people’s lives. We work closely with a wide range of partners to ensure a sufficient water supply and to reduce the risk of flooding, protecting and improving air, land and water quality. We apply the environmental standards within which industry can operate. Join our Flood and Coastal Risk Management team and you’ll play an important role in incident response and ensuring our assets are up to standard.

Benefits

In return for your hard work, we offer a competitive package with a range of benefits, as well as the opportunity to make a real difference to the environment. We’re committed to your continued professional development – you’ll have the opportunity to further develop your skills, expertise and career in the fast-paced, ever-evolving environment.
