Inland Fisheries Ireland is the state agency responsible for the protection, management and conservation of Ireland's inland fisheries and sea angling resources.

We are inviting applications from candidates who have a passion for promoting, protecting and conserving our natural resources, especially that of fish and their natural habitats, for the role of Fishery Officer in Cavan.

A Fisheries Officer monitors, manages and protects fish stocks and the rivers, lakes and other habitats where they live. In this job you will act as the front line for the organisation, interacting with anglers and other members of the general public to educate and promote angling and to develop the tourism potential of Cavan’s fish resources. You will also monitor and protect our fish resources and their environment through enforcement of legislation, acting as a warranted officer where necessary. The role is also responsible for the provision and maintenance of angling infrastructure, which may involve some construction work.

To qualify for this position, candidates should have a full clean driving licence, fluent English, reside close to the base, and be able to demonstrate interest and experience in a related area.

Tenure: This role is offered on a two year fixed term basis. The salary scale for the post is at Fishery Officer level (01.01.19) € 24,632 to €37,983 including 2 LSI’s. (Appointment will normally be made at the first point of the scale)
