SAI Global Assurances, one of the world’s leading certification bodies is seeking to recruit a Fishery Certification Manager.
SAI Global, a multinational, publically listed certification company, originating from Australia has recently acquired Global Trust Certification and plans to build on the ethos and technical success that has been established across major fishery production regions. Current assessments and projects are in place across USA, Canada, Europe, Asia and Australia/New Zealand. SAI Global has over 60 operating offices throughout the world and can now service the certification needs of fisheries in all regions.
We wish to hear from fishery management and certification professionals with hands on experience in the Marine Stewardship Council and other Standards and with sound knowledge of fisheries management, science and of fisheries ecosystem interactions.
A knowledge and understanding of FAO documents and on the approaches to responsible fisheries management are also strong assets of a successful candidate.
Reporting to the Seafood Technical Manager, this is an exciting opportunity to join an established team of fishery professionals and support the technical and operational effectiveness of fishery certifications and fishery certification based projects.

The job specification and responsibilities include:
Technical responsibility for a core team of full and contract fishery professionals and assessors engaged in delivering a range of certification programmes.
Specialist technical guidance to ensure consistency of application and implementation of certification programmes according to Standards and Accreditation requirements in association with the Quality and Accreditation team.
New fishery client and fishery business opportunities identification and appraisal
Lead assessor duties and assessment team management
Reporting on the progress and budgetary status of fishery certifications and projects.
Extensive travel to fisheries for assessment and business development, project technical support needs.
