Our Team is responsible for the collection of environmental data across North Yorkshire and Teesside. Specifically, as the Fisheries Monitoring Officer, you will lead on the organisation and collection of our fish surveys within the team which will enable us to communicate fish population data to our Area and National teams.

What will I do?

Based in Darlington or York with travel across the region, you’ll already have an in-depth understanding and knowledge of how vitally important a healthy fish stock is to the wellbeing of waterways, and how crucial conducting regular surveys are to monitoring health and population numbers. So that’s where you come in.

The results of the surveys need to be reported, so you will have proven experience of data entry as well as maintaining and quality assuring fish data on our IT systems.

In this supervisory role, you will support the Team Leader and provide operational and technical leadership to the rest of the team taking on the role as training lead, mentoring staff to ensure that all the latest regulations are adhered to. You’ll have your risk assessment alarm always switched on to ensure the safety of staff whilst conducting their duties.
