Middlemarch Environmental Ltd (MEL) has been providing biodiversity consultancy services since 1989. As a wholly owned subsidiary of Warwickshire Wildlife Trust, MEL is at the forefront of realising and delivering Value in Nature and had a turnover of c. £5M in 2019. We have built a strong reputation for our work within the natural environment sector, focused on ecological survey and assessment, mitigation design, habitat creation and arboriculture. In recent years we have taken a proactive approach to emerging issues such as biodiversity net gain, green infrastructure and natural capital. At MEL we pride ourselves on our value-driven professionalism and expertise in biodiversity-led environmental consultancy.  At an exciting time in our evolution, we are looking for an experienced, inspirational individual to join the MEL and help to take us to the next level. We have an ambitious strategic plan, aiming to become the UK’s most trusted natural environmental consultancy.

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Executive Director will take on day-to-day responsibility for the running of the consultancy.  We are looking for an exceptional individual who knows how to get the best from their team, how to coach, mentor and lead from the front.  We also need that individual to have extensive experience of relationship management at a senior level and be committed to developing long term strategic partnerships with our key clients. You may come from an ecological or environmental background; you will certainly be very familiar with ongoing legislative and policy developments and the evolving natural environment agenda and will appreciate how these impact upon our work and clients.

We have a strong, inclusive culture in MEL and will welcome applications from business leaders who are equally passionate about making MEL a great place to work.  We will be looking for experience of change management and great communication skills.

The role will be based at MEL’s head office in Coventry, but with the potential to work flexibly from home as and when required. National travel throughout the UK is anticipated, as required.

If you feel you have the skills and experience to help us drive forward on our mission, please outline these in a cover letter demonstrating an understanding of the evolving natural environment sector and the opportunities and challenges that apply to a growing biodiversity-focused business.

Your cover letter and CV should be submitted to via the link on our website.

  • The application deadline is Sunday 27th September 2020
  • First interviews will be held remotely w/c 5th October 2020.
  • Final interviews will be held w/c 12th October 2020 at Brandon Marsh Nature Centre, the headquarters of Warwickshire Wildlife Trust.
