Description

The ICCT has an internship opportunity in its London office to work with our fuels program on issues around the commercialisation and sustainability of the European cellulosic biofuels industry. The successful applicant will support our Fuels Lead to coordinate the ‘Biofrontiers’ research collaborative, working with representatives from the biofuel industry and environmental NGOs. The position will involve taking on research projects, and elements of event organisation, project management and group coordination. It will provide the successful applicant an excellent opportunity to gain experience working with a coalition of stakeholders to drive European biofuel policy forward into the next decade.

We generally expect that applicants will have one or more degrees in technical disciplines such as environmental science, engineering, economics, or the pure sciences, but will consider highly numerate candidates with other backgrounds. The successful candidate will need to display excellent personal organisational and communication skills, as well as strong numeracy and analytical ability. The role will include the following tasks:

  • Contributing to technical and policy research projects on the opportunity for advanced biofuels in Europe
  • Organising and coordinating meetings of the ‘Biofrontiers’ coalition
  • Attending Biofrontiers coalition meetings in Brussels

Our Fuels Program is actively engaged globally in the development of policies to promote the use of cleaner fuels in transport. The successful applicant may also be asked to contribute to other projects that work toward the broader mission of the ICCT.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in English
  • Fluency in a second European language would be an advantage
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and written and verbal communication skills
  • A high level of competence with MS Excel (or comparable analytical tools), and proficiency with MS Word and PowerPoint
  • Strong project/task management and organization skills
  • Ability to self-start, show initiative and work with limited supervision are vital
  • A good degree in a technical discipline. Candidates with postgraduate qualifications or equivalent experience will be at an advantage.
  • A commitment to delivering environmental progress through effective policy.

Position Details
