About the role

The post will be based within the Atmospheric Chemistry & Effects Science Area at CEH Edinburgh. We are involved in projects in the UK and abroad and work on the biosphere atmosphere exchange of trace gases, especially greenhouse gases (GHGs). Our work focuses on understanding and quantifying the interactions between the biosphere and the atmosphere based on measurements, experiments and modelling of greenhouse gases, reactive air pollutants, water and energy. We quantify fluxes and transport of matter and energy, pollutant impacts on the above- and belowground biota, and how changes in ecological communities feedback on atmospheric composition. We study a wide range of habitats such as forest, grassland, wetlands, urban areas, and cropland, including bioenergy crops in the UK and in Mediterranean, arctic and tropical climate zones.
