Our Markets team is responsible for all commercial aspects of Gaelectric’s wind, storage and biomass portfolio, and is expanding to also deliver value through trading activities in the Irish and European electricity markets. The team is also preparing for the introduction of I-SEM and the commercial opportunities that will ensue.
We are seeking to grow our team through the addition of an Energy Trader to work on the execution and development of trading strategies. The new role will form part of a growing team capability to provide around the clock market coverage.

ACTIVITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
• Execute approved strategies in trading both Irish and UK power markets.
• Assist in the development and optimisation of trading strategies across markets.
• Provide analytical support for detailed and timely analysis of electricity markets on a daily basis.
• Interact with market bodies and participants to maximize value and ensure efficient market interactions
• Investigate and present new trading strategies to management
• Contribute to evaluation of developments in new markets in Europe including ISEM
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
• 2-3 years energy market experience ideally in a commercial/trading role
• Strong quantitative, analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong academic record in analytical field such as economics, engineering, mathematics, or finance
• Proven commercial acumen, and ability to work in a dynamic environment
• Excellent Excel skills and capability with managing/analyzing large datasets
• Proficiency in other trading systems or data management also desirable

• Commercial instincts, with an appetite for maximizing value and exploring new opportunities;

• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities;
• Flexibility to work shifts to provide required trading desk coverage.
