Description
The Planning Inspectorate has a long and proud history in ensuring a fair planning system. The work we do has a significant impact on people’s lives, the communities that they live in and the economy; whether that is considering an appeal for housing, providing challenge and support to Local Authorities on Local Plans or providing recommendations to the Secretary of State on power stations, or airport expansions such as Heathrow.

It’s a really exciting time to be thinking about joining us. We are currently in the middle of a multi-million-pound transformation programme to create a more modern Inspectorate. We want our colleagues to be able to work more flexibly and more collaboratively, exploring new and innovative ways to improve the way we provide services. We are investing heavily in technology and, as well as developing our model to be more customer centric, we are also modernising our systems to introduce increased automation and efficiency.

Job description

The Planning Inspectorate is looking for a talented, enthusiastic and hardworking environmental professional to join our Environmental Services Team as an EIA Advisor. With guidance and training you will use and develop your expertise to provide analysis and advice on projects that have a crucial role in the economic and environmental future of the UK. These include appeal applications as well as the largest renewable energy schemes (on and offshore) anywhere in Europe, innovative new technologies such as carbon capture and storage (CCS) as well as intelligent solutions for new highway, rail and waste projects.

You will be an enthusiastic qualified professional with experience in the production and/or review of EIA and/or HRA schemes. You will possess the ability to respond quickly and effectively to complex environmental queries, to work collaboratively with a variety of bodies and be able to manage your and others workloads to high quality standards against demanding timescales.
