Description

Thank you for your interest in our Volunteer Co-ordinator vacancy.

Carymoor Environmental Trust is an environmental education charity based outside Castle Cary in Somerset. Our unique site has a working Waste Transfer Station and a nature reserve created on a restored landfill site. We offer a broad range of environmental education to schools, community groups, and families to promote sustainable living. We have around 5000 visitors each year who come to us for school trips, adult education courses, volunteering, and family events. You can read more about our work at www.carymoor.org.uk

The Volunteer Co-ordinator position is a new role thanks to a new project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund’s Green Recovery Challenge Fund. Volunteers play a vital role in our work at Carymoor, helping to support our education and conservation work. This role will involve reviewing potential volunteer opportunities and promoting them, helping to expand our volunteer team. It will also involve inducting new volunteers and measuring the benefits of their work on their health and wellbeing.

Our HLF project will see us create new habitats for the nightingale at Carymoor and a range of other conservation work to support the varied wildlife on our site.

The position is a 1-year contract.
