About the role

You will be in the CEH team who compile the Land Use, Land Use Change & Forestry (LULUCF) sector of the UK’s National Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventory.

The post will contribute to work funded by the UK Department of Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and presents an opportunity for an exceptional candidate to work at the interface between scientific research and government policy and demonstrate the UK’s compliance with International Climate Change targets.

About you

You will have a PhD in a suitable environmental science or equivalent experience in a research environment.  You will be responsible for compiling the annual GHG inventory according to internationally-agreed methodologies, and will require strong numeracy skills and excellent attention to detail. You will be required to show an understanding of current land use policies and their impact on emissions/removals of greenhouse gases. Expertise in soil science and/or reporting land use/land use change is therefore required.
