The Economic Officer will be a key member of CI- Liberia’s team, working to develop and implement Green Economies, the landscape-level ecosystem services analysis and follow-up programming, value chain development programming and sustainable financing activities.

 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  • General Research and Analysis. Working with CI economists, the Economic Officer will develop sampling plans and collect data, carry out surveys and community mapping and facilitate meetings. Research would include government, private sector, NGO partners and communities. 
  • Value Chain Analysis: Working with the Economic Team Lead, this position will be responsible for conducting value chain analyses and facilitating value chain development in key sectors of the Green Economy Initiative
  • Project Coordination: Working with the CI Liberia Team this position will be responsible for coordinating the day to day implementation of our economics projects including coordination with implementing partners, organizing logistic etc.
  • Local Policy and Green Economy Support: The Economic Officer may be called on to provide technical assistance for local government officials and partners responsible for policy formation.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
 
Required: 
  • Fluent in economic concepts, have demonstrated data collection and surveying skills and experience in quantitative analyses 
  • Have a proven record of coordinating long-term projects as well as timely, effective technical support responsive to emerging need
  • Proven experience in research, project implementation and fieldwork.
  • Proven ability to generate research that affects decision making.
  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, public policy, business administration, or a related field or at least 3 yrs work experience.
 
Preferred: 
  • Ideal candidate will be familiar with work, research, and/or policy in a Liberian or African context.
  • This candidate should have experience working with NGOs 
  • Should have proven strength in coordinating activities of multiple partners and demonstrated teamwork skills.    
  • The ideal candidate would also have some fundraising/grant writing experience.
