Working Pattern: 37 hrs per week - Monday to Friday

Location: West Bridgford, Nottingham

The Job

We are looking for two Ecologists to join our Environmental Management & Design Team.

Key areas of responsibility will include: -

  • To undertake ecological assessments, such as surveys and reports to achieve quality, programme and financial targets.
  • To contribute to the growth of the ecological service and identify opportunities for development in the market
  • To provide expert advice around legislation and delivery of projects.
  • To design and deliver ecological mitigation schemes and adhere to legislative and industry best practice.
  • To provide specialist ecology support to Nottinghamshire County Council Planning department and other Planning Authorities, including undertaking the role of expert witness at planning/public inquiry.
  • To ensure full adherence to health, safety and environmental legislation, policy and best practise.
  • To liaise with a wide range of people to facilitate project delivery and maintain Via’s positive company reputation.


The Person

Mainly you will be excited to be a part of our environmental projects, but there are just a few other things we’d like from you: -

  • A relevant degree and be eligible for a full CIEMM membership with experience or knowledge gained through practical experience
  • Background in ecological survey methods and assessment techniques, holding a Natural England protected species licence
  • Proven experience of working as a ecological clerk of works on construction sites and undertaking preliminary ecological appraisals and producing high quality ecological impact assessments and other technical reports
  • Strong ICT skills with specialist computer applications such as GIS software packages and MS office
  • Knowledge of health & safety, technical requirements, best practise, planning and other legislation appropriate to ecology role
  • Experience of ecological disciplines including financial monitoring, providing information and working with key stakeholders
  • A high level of personal drive and commitment to delivery excellent customer care whilst setting examples to peers
