Whitcher Wildlife Ltd is a small company with ten employees offering an Ecological Consultancy service to all from private home owners to all aspects of industry and specialising in the housing, rail and quarry industries.

This is an exciting time to join our growing business which offers the right candidates an opportunity to play an important role in taking the company to new heights. The role offers a wealth of opportunities for training and personal development along with the chance to work with a brilliant, close-knit team in a friendly atmosphere.

We offer Preliminary Ecological Appraisals and general ecology surveys followed by specialist surveys as required including badger surveys, great crested newt surveys, bat surveys, dormouse surveys, reptile surveys, water vole and otter surveys, crayfish surveys, etc.

These are supplemented by the preparation of reports, mitigation strategies, licence applications and the supervision of mitigation measures to completion. The range of works we undertake is wide and varied and offers a great challenge to the right candidates.

We are seeking to recruit at least one new, experienced and ambitious consultant to join our practice and to help lead the business into the future. A good educational background, leadership skills and proven driving experience are essential. Suitable candidates will hold UK species survey licences and site specific licences for bats in particular and for other UK species are desirable. A flexible and enthusiastic attitude and your ability to fit in with and complement a small and existing team of consultants is essential.

We are also seeking junior and mid-level ecologists with less experience but with the potential to gain experience and licences and work their way up the company hierarchy.

Based in our office in Darfield, Barnsley, applicants must ideally be prepared to live within travelling distance from the office.

In return, we offer the opportunity to play a leading role in the future of the business, with your own van, phone and benefits package including pension, private medical insurance and death in service schemes. These are positions that will suit ambitious ecologists and leaders to provide a secure future for themselves and the business.
