We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and dedicated individual at the Director level to join us on this journey. The individual will play a key leadership and delivery role in our Communities and Socio-Economic team, where they will also actively contribute to the shaping of our business and the future!

The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual who will lead our Communities and Socio-Economic team which currently has a focus on socio economic and health impact assessment as well as wider strategic consulting around social infrastructure, social value, environmental economics and stakeholder engagement.

We are looking for an experienced individual to help us build upon recent successes and to lead us into new areas of work within this service sector.

You may have a specialism in socio-economics, environmental economics, social value and social return on investment engagement, project appraisal and funding, health impact assessment and or community engagement / stakeholder consultation. You may have a background in research and policy and you may have worked in the property sector or within major infrastructure, or across both.

Whatever your experience is, we are looking for you to take a lead in developing, mentoring and growing our existing team: delivering existing projects and winning new work; ensuring the highest levels of client care; developing propositions with established networks within your specialist area; and helping set Temple’s strategic direction.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have an extensive working foundation in the fields of one or more of the following:
  • social infrastructure appraisal and delivery;
  • economic development (e.g. economic appraisal/modelling, economic impact assessment and the use of financial or business case modelling techniques);
  • environmental economics;
  • social value, socio-economic and health impact assessment; and / or
  • stakeholder engagement.
  • Have a demonstrable track record in bespoke strategy development for high profile clients (public and private), delivering tangible results.
  • Understand the challenges facing urban environments and the value of providing an integrated offer including economics, planning and technical infrastructure expertise.
  • Contribute to the activities of the wider team, by directing and managing the delivery of socioeconomic and health impact assessments.
  • Be prepared to promote Temple’s services through publications and conference attendance, and to contribute to industry debate both internally and within wider professional circles.
  • Strong networking capability and key contacts within the sector.
  • Have demonstrable bid preparation and business development experience – be a proven work winner.
  • Have the ability to influence project decisionmakers to arrive at sustainable solutions.
  • Be a member of an appropriate professional body such as the Institute of Economic Development, Social Value UK, Society of Professional Economists, Association of Environmental and Resource Economists and / or the Academy of Social Sciences.

It will be desirable if you have:

  • Expert witness experience.
  • International policy work experience and / or experience of work on major projects and programmes.

Key responsibilities:

  • Managing the financial and commercial aspects of the Social & Economic Value (SEV) Business Unit
  • Provide leadership of business development, and delivery in your chosen sector.
  • Project director / technical lead on a wide variety of infrastructure and development projects.
  • Communicate, liaise and collaborate effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Provide technical direction and oversight on projects within the team including writing, checking and review of deliverables.
  • Financial/commercial responsibility for projects and tenders.
  • Help grow and develop the wider team through mentoring and line management.
  • Actively develop a network of contacts in client organisations, strategic partners and other collaborators to win and deliver work.
  • Enhance Temple’s reputation and market position through your professional (technical and sector specific) profile and contribution.

The preferred location of this role is at our London office however we can be flexible on this and would also consider other locations such at Manchester.  Temple offers flexible hybrid working along with lots of other great benefits.
