Description  

An opportunity exists for a Data Co-ordinator in the Radiological and Chemical Sciences (RACS) Group at Cefas.  The work area comprises a diverse group of scientists who provide high quality analytical support, data interpretation and scientific advice to a comprehensive portfolio of internal and external contracts for UK and international customers.  The purpose of the role is to co-ordinate the environmental monitoring data associated with our radiological risk assessment programme as well as maintaining a resilient and accessible data archive, making use of the Cefas Laboratory Information Management System. 

You will be collating environmental monitoring data for the Radioactivity in Food and the Environment (RIFE) report, which includes co-ordinating large amounts of data and producing accurate and consistent tables for use in assessments and for presentation.  You will assist in the production of the RIFE report and will provide data reports to specified deadlines to external customers.  You will need excellent communication and organisational skills, the ability to work well under pressure whilst maintaining high quality outputs to tight deadlines Working within a team, you will provide advice, information and data to internal and external customers.  You will collaborate with various external partners and successfully manage their different requirements.  All data will need to be thoroughly quality assured, so attention to detail is essential for this post. 

Academic qualifications required for this post are a degree or an equivalent qualification in a relevant subject.

In addition, you will have:

  • experience in co-ordinating data sets.
  • software literacy focusing on MS Excel
  • effective organisation and prioritisation skills to work in a multi-task environment and meet specified deadlines.
  • the ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team with strong personal motivation and flexibility.
  • excellent attention to detail and the ability to process data efficiently with a high level of accuracy in order to produce high-quality tables and figures.
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers.
