We are seeking a talented data specialist to provide technology and data support, and who will have an integral role in ensuring our asset data and information is fit for use. Our goal is to make well-informed decisions based on solid evidence, and by embracing innovation and fostering consistency, you will play a crucial role in shaping our asset data management now and into the future. You will lead the charge in implementing improvements, harnessing new technologies, and sharing best practices across our teams to leave a lasting impact.

Where you will work 

As our Data and Information Specialist you will be a member of one of our Asset Performance Teams, who are responsible for ensuring our assets are constructed, inspected, surveyed, assessed, maintained and operated in a safe, effective and efficient manner. The teams are a key part of reducing flood risk to people and property, and ensuring our projects deliver effective flood risk solutions for local communities.  

Our Welwyn Garden City base location has a hybrid model allowing individuals to work either at home or at our office (a minimum number of days in the office per week will be agreed with your line manager and will be dependent on business needs and reviewed periodically).

What do you need:

  • Comfortable in working with IT systems.
  • Capability to analyse and interpret figures and data, and have experience of using data and information to provide recommendations and/or inform a decision or outcome.
  • Able to portray complex information for a wide audience to comprehend.
  • Understand and be an advocate for the importance of data & information to processes and delivering objectives.
  • Be innovative and able to identify and seize opportunities to create and implement new or improved methods and processes without compromising quality.
  • Able to show leadership and take responsibility for the tasks you will be delegated, including delegating tasks to others in the team.
  • Be able to manage own development and workload.
  • Strong communication and data problem solving skills
  • Awareness of Building Information Management (BIM) standards is beneficial, but is not essential.
  • Institute of Asset Management Certificate is beneficial, but is not essential.
