Darwin Ecology is a well-established ecological consultancy with a great reputation for providing professional, innovative and conservation-led schemes. The company thrives on a collaborative approach between our two small offices in Farnham and Shaftesbury, pulling together a broad range of expertise to provide bespoke solutions for our clients.

Whilst ensuring that we manage the challenges that accompany human development and ensuring that we achieve our clients development goals, our other core value is to deliver a positive impact for the environment on every project we work on. Our work covers a diverse range of small to medium-sized development and infrastructure projects across a range of sectors. We are practical and solution-focused Ecologists with a hard work ethic.

We also currently launching a wildlife enhancement and re-wilding consultancy side to the business, Darwin WildScapes, which provides advice and implementation of small and large scale wildlife enhancement a management schemes on public and privately owned land. We have had good take up so there will be opportunities to get involved with this too for the right candidate.

What are we looking for?

We are expanding our team to meet increasing demand and are seeking experienced Ecologists and Senior Ecologists to join us. Candidates should be well rounded technical ecologists and meet the following minimum requirements:

  • At least 5 years professional consultancy experience;
  • Demonstrable team and independent working skills; and
  • Minimum Level 1 class survey licence for bats.

Additional skills that will be considered advantageous include:

  • Managerial or mentorship experience;
  • Mitigation licensing experience;
  • Additional survey licences (particularly for great crested newts or dormice); and
  • Experience of the planning system and associated technical processes such EIA and HRA.

Above all, we’re looking for conservation-minded ecologists with a passion for the environment.
