Description

We are looking for a passionate and committed professional to join our Conservation and Land Management Directorate to help realise our vision for nature recovery on Dartmoor.

The Land Management Advisor will be fundamental to translating the Dartmoor vision for nature into reality. This role is key to driving nature recovery on Dartmoor through working with landowners, farmers and partners to negotiate, develop and facilitate resilient and dynamic landscape scale Nature Recovery Areas centred on core ecological networks.

The Land Management Advisor will also work closely with partners and land managers in providing advice and assistance to help maintain, restore and expand priority habitats and species in key ‘core’ areas.

The ideal candidate will have a strong conservation background, with proven experience in developing and delivering landscape-scale conservation projects. You will be a creative thinker who is able to identify new and innovative solutions, and be someone who can inspire, influence and galvanise land managers and communities to come together collectively and achieve positive environmental change across landscapes.

You will have a good understanding of land management and ideally a background working with upland farmers to achieve environmental outcomes. You will understand agri-environment schemes, and have experience of securing funding to achieve ambitious ecological goals. Above all, you will be innovative, resilient and self-motivated with persuasive negotiation and communication skills.

The post will be based at the Authority’s offices in Bovey Tracey. You will also be required to travel extensively within the National Park. The Authority operates flexible working and is a member of the Local Government Pension Scheme.

The initial contract is for a period of 3 years.
