Description

Globally and nationally wildlife is in steep decline. We appear to be reaching critical tipping points around the loss of biodiversity as well as around climate change, both being interlinked. Human society cannot prosper without wildlife and healthy ecosystems.

Kent’s wildlife needs to be restored to much higher levels. We can no longer allow common things to become rare. We can only do this by restoring large-scale natural habitat areas and processes. Doing this will contribute to solving global problems. But we won’t be able to do this unless we publicly aspire to a higher level of impact and show that we can deliver this.

This crucial role will ensure the smooth running of a two-year project.  This project is part of a pioneering Landscape Recovery Pilot scheme, which will be essential to achieve our environmental objectives, whilst rejuvenating our beautiful landscapes for the enjoyment of the public and sustaining thriving rural economies.

The aim is to enhance our natural environment and support ecosystem recovery through long-term, large-scale, land-use change and habitat restoration projects.  There are two themes for the first round of the pilots and the Darent Valley Project is under restoring England’s streams and rivers: improving water quality, biodiversity and adapting to climate change.

This is a partnership project with the Darent Valley Farmer Cluster, comprising farmers and landowners, conservation NGOs and statutory bodies. You’ll be working alongside the Project Manager, providing support with a range of administrative work, including process and document management, record keeping, minute taking, communication content and report writing.  You’ll also be responsible for liaising with and reporting to the delivery body and funder to keep the project on track and to budget.

You’ll be working within a team of Farmer Cluster Officers who are at the exciting intersection between farming and wildlife conservation. You’ll be embedded in this world, learning all about how landscape restoration is being delivered and be a vital part of this team. With experience of problem solving and working in fast paced environments, you’ll be creating the tools needed to carry out this project and will enjoy working collaboratively with others.  As a keen organiser, you will be tracking multiple types of data and ensuring this is captured in the most efficient ways.

Kent Wildlife Trust is the leading wildlife charity for Kent and Medway, supported by its members and staffed by committed professionals.  Join our team and help us create a Wilder Kent! In return we will inspire you, listen to you, value you, treat you equally and fairly, look after your health and wellbeing and encourage flexibility from day one, enabling you to draw on these benefits to be a better, happier and more productive you.
