Description

If you have a passion for the countryside, enjoy sharing knowledge and engaging with others whilst undertaking practical tasks, this part time, outdoor role is for you.

Based in our agricultural office at Pond Farm, the core role of the Countryside Assistant is to encourage greater access and participation within the countryside estate managed by Surrey Wildlife Trust, ensuring it is safe and welcoming with opportunities for volunteers and visitors to get stuck in.  You will monitor and maintain visitor standards at key sites and support community events with specific groups to encourage greater use of the countryside, including specifically leading activities at Westfield Common in Woking.

It will be necessary to have good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain the purpose of a task and put it into context for the volunteers so that they can understand their contribution to habitat management and conservation; some practical experience of ecology, access and nature conservation would be advantageous together with a relevant college level qualification.

Please apply using the Application Form provided on our website and link your skills and experience to the full job role.  Applications should be sent to katy.fielding@surreywt.org.uk  by the closing date: Midday Friday 4th January 2019; Interviews: w/c 14th January 2019

Pond Farm is not readily accessible via public transport so the ability to drive and access to a vehicle is essential although suitable SWT work vehicles will be available. This role will involve some weekend working.
