Description

We are looking for a Community Forest Manager to assist the trustees with the development and implementation of plans for the future of 64 hectares of community woodland at Gillies Hill, on the outskirts of Stirling.  We have recently purchased the land with support from the Scottish Land Fund.  This post is funded by the SLF for 2 years.

You will have demonstrable experience in woodland management and forestry operations, excellent general organisational and management skills, a good attention to detail and a talent at problem solving.  Excellent communications skills and an ability to inspire and lead others, including volunteers, are required.

Reporting to trustees of CCDT, the key responsibilities include:

  • Implementing the Woodland Management Plan and annual plans
  • Carrying out basic maintenance tasks on an ongoing basis. Oversee all operational activities, including work of contractors
  • Support trustees and other members of CCDT in the implementation of key projects as identified in the Woodland Management Plan, including training and supervising volunteers

This is a 2-year contract, part time for an average of 15 hours/week (although this may vary during the year, and the postholder will require to be flexible in their approach).

Salary is £27,000/annum pro-rata (equivalent of £13.85/hour).

The person can either be employed by CCDT or self-employed. There is an office base in Cambusbarron Community Centre and computer facilities, if required. The post requires access to your own vehicle and a full driving licence. Expenses will be paid for using your vehicle for work related journeys.
