The Scottish Wildlife Trust’s Living Landscapes Programme focusses on delivering conservation activities at a landscape-scale. We have created two new roles to help us communicate our work and advocate for a green recovery that benefits people, wildlife, and the economy.
Communications & Advocacy Officer for the Coigach & Assynt Living Landscape Partnership Scheme
The Coigach & Assynt Living Landscape brings environmental and socio-economic benefits to the communities of North West Scotland. Our unique Coigach and Assynt Living Landscape Partnership Scheme has brought huge benefits to local communities by opening up and repairing paths and access points to this spectacular landscape, working with schoolchildren to encourage outdoor learning and an understanding of the natural environmental, expanding native woodland through our tree nursery and planting schemes, and promoting the cultural heritage of the area. We’re now looking for a dynamic individual to work with the team to design and implement our communications strategy for the remainder of the project, to demonstrate to others how our work has benefitted local people and natural, cultural, and built heritage.
Communications & Advocacy Officer for the Cumbernauld Living Landscape Creating Natural Connections Project
The Cumbernauld Living Landscape puts people and wildlife at the heart of Cumbernauld’s community. With our NLHF-funded Creating Natural Connections project we are transforming local greenspaces, unlocking their health and well-being benefits and connecting more people to reduce inequalities. We need to communicate the success of our work to help us to effect positive change more widely across Cumbernauld and beyond. During the first year of the project, we worked on our project branding and created a communications toolkit, to ensure the project was established in the minds of key target audiences from an early stage. We are now looking for an experienced professional to join our team to design and implement our comms strategy for the remainder of the project to ensure we produce high quality and effective communications throughout the project.
We need to ensure both projects achieve the highest possible positive public profile and are viewed as an exemplar for working with the community to protect and enjoy wildlife whilst providing key economic benefits to the regions. A particular focus will be on key stakeholders including decision makers for the future of both Coigach & Assynt and Cumbernauld, such as local and national government, eNGOs and community groups, to ensure community sustainability and nature protection is a priority.
To ensure this opportunity is accessible, we are open to candidates applying for either one part-time role, or both roles making up one full-time position. Please indicate in your application whether you wish to apply for:
- Living Landscapes Communications & Advocacy Officer for the Coigach & Assynt Living Landscape Partnership Scheme at 0.5 FTE (17.5 hours a week). Fixed term until March 2022.
- Living Landscapes Communications & Advocacy Officer for the Cumbernauld Living Landscape Creating Natural Connections Project at 0.5 FTE (17.5 hours a week). Fixed term until June 2023.
- Both roles at 1.0 FTE (35 hours a week) – If applying for both roles, please demonstrate in your application that you understand the different audiences and appropriate channels of communication for the two distinct projects.
