West Oxfordshire District Council is dedicated to maintaining and enhancing West Oxfordshire as one of the best places to live, work and visit in the UK.  We provide a range of important services including waste and recycling collections, planning, housing, leisure, community safety and environmental health.  The Council has an ambitious Council Plan focussed on a range of important priorities including climate action, strong local communities, and a vibrant district economy.  We want to deliver excellent modern services whilst ensuring the financial sustainability of the Council.  We also want to continue working in close partnership with our local communities and other important partners.

About the role…

West Oxfordshire District Council has declared a Climate and Ecological Emergency and put climate action at the heart of its Local Recovery Plan. In taking forward these commitments, we are looking for someone who is passionate about addressing the climate emergency and has the skills to support work in a fast-paced environment, delivering projects within the Council’s Carbon Action Plan.

This is a new role which will cover West Oxfordshire. Within the District, there are plenty of places to see and visit whether you love hiking or cycling.  With our agile working ethos: you will be spoilt for choice. 

You will need…

  • A Degree or equivalent in relevant subject e.g. climate change, geography, environmental sciences
  • An excellent understanding of climate change issues, evidence, perspectives and key targets
  • 1 year plus experience of working with and supporting community groups and stakeholders
  • A track record promoting ideas or projects with a range of people with differing perspectives or priorities
