Description  

We are looking for a Climate Change Programme & Partnership Manager who will lead the council’s work on achieving our net-zero goals. This is a critical role working on some of our most high profile activities and with responsibility for delivery of an ambitious capital programme.

About the role

The role leads the energy and climate change teams, which together lead our work to minimise our carbon emissions, reduce energy usage and deliver the range of actions within the Climate Change and Air Quality Strategy. This includes a range of nature-based solutions to climate change such as supporting various tree planting initiatives. Other current work includes:

  • Delivering a programme of measures in our Climate Change &; Air Quality Strategy, including planting over 500,000 trees to allow us to reach net-zero carbon emissions and increasing our renewable generation capacity.
  • Managing electricity and gas contracts worth over £10m / year.
  • Delivering our biomass service to schools and ensure we received the right Feed-in Tariff and Renewable Heat Incentive payments.
  • Identifying new energy-saving opportunities across our estate and seeking suitable funds for these measures.
  • Working with a mix of internal and external stakeholders to deliver our Strategy and to support reduction in emissions across Buckinghamshire.

Any-Desk:

As an ‘any-desk’ worker, you’ll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, but this can either be from home or an office location when required. You will be required to work from the office a couple of times a week, depending on your role and team requirements*.

About you

You’ll have expert knowledge of climate change and energy management issues and able to resolve escalated issues from within the team. You’ll be confident in managing a team working across a range of strategic and complex issues, as well as resolving matters of detail on individual queries and issues. You’ll be experienced in working with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, able to encourage and support action from others. You will also be experienced in managing capital and revenue budgets and have a track record of successful delivery of projects and programme.
