Description  

Some of our most precious marine sites and all that lives within them are now protected as a direct result of our passion and dedication to getting a better deal for our seas, but much more needs to be done before we can really say that our seas are in a better place.  

We are looking for an experienced and successful Campaigns Communications Officer to play a key part in the campaign for continuing the development of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) for MCS, and you will work with the Senior Campaigner to deliver a compelling and innovative communications plan which mobilises mass support for our campaign. 

Key to the Campaigns team, you will shape how we communicate about MPAs, providing insight into new online platforms and innovative ways of reaching and influencing a range of audiences. 

You will develop approaches using a range of technical and popular information resources from within MCS and beyond about MPAs and the benefits they provide, and create persuasive messages and case studies.  A  which will be delivered through the compelling new MCS communications platform. 

Key Skills 

Proven ability to develop and deliver communications plans, and to work with media teams to create press releases which keep MCS’ work at the forefront

Detailed insight and experience of utilising social media tools for the purposes of campaigning, with curiosity into the use emerging platforms

Excellent team-working and communication skills to creatively work with a diverse range of highly professional individuals in multi-skilled teams

Experience of working with consultants and contractors to develop communications material and concepts
