Description

We are recruiting for a specialist adviser on bryophytes, lichens, and fungi, sitting within the Biodiversity and Geodiversity team at NatureScot.

As our Bryophytes, Lichens and Fungi Adviser, you will advise colleagues and partners on their appropriate conservation management, and lead NatureScot’s work relating to bryophytes, fungi, and lichens.

You will provide specialist advice in support of a wide range of biodiversity and conservation initiatives, such as delivery of the Scottish Biodiversity Strategy, Red Listing, and species conservation translocations.

NatureScot is Scotland’s nature agency. Scotland’s nature and landscapes are among our greatest assets. We work to improve our natural environment in Scotland and inspire everyone to care more about it so that all nature in Scotland – our key habitats and landscapes, all our green space and our native species – is maintained and enhanced.

Working towards Scotland’s ‘green recovery’ from Covid-19, we want to stimulate a revival that secures resilience through a nature-rich future for Scotland and an effective response to the climate emergency. This means that by 2030, Scotland will be recognised as a world leader in looking after and enhancing nature.

Closing date: Midday on 16 February 2022.

Nature is vital to all of us, so it is vital that we are an organisation for all of Scotland. The more diverse NatureScot is, the better we will be in connecting everyone with nature. We particularly encourage applications from people from Minority Ethnic (ME) backgrounds and people with a disability.
