Description

We are seeking an organised, highly motivated and technically experienced Associate Programme Officer to support the Conserved Land and Seascapes Programme in the delivery of UNEP-WCMC’s Ocean+ initiative (www.oceanplus.org). The successful candidate will also play an important role in helping to advance UNEP-WCMC’s knowledge management strategy, working in close collaboration with our Data Officer and other programmes at the Centre.

You will have a passion for identifying innovative approaches to addressing key conservation challenges, with attention to detail and a love for data management, programming and/or modelling. Specific examples of potential areas of analytical work include: analyses of spatial sensitivity, risk and/or threats to biodiversity; biodiversity and ecosystem service modelling; and use of AI to track change in ecosystems over time, among other emerging areas of interest. More broadly, key areas of responsibility will also include supporting the delivery of projects and preparing project outputs, as well as engaging with clients, international stakeholders and decision-makers. You will also have the opportunity to attend conferences, workshops and other specialist meetings on behalf of UNEP-WCMC, both in the UK and internationally.

In addition to training and development opportunities, we offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including generous pension contributions.

If you are looking for a rewarding and challenging post centred on teamwork, innovation and advancing conservation knowledge management, we want to hear from you. Please complete our application form and send this with a CV and covering letter by 7th April 2019 using the link below.

Interviews are expected to take place during the week commencing the 29th April 2019.

Please note this is not a UN post and we can only accept applications from those eligible to work in the UK.

WCMC is a UK charity, based in Cambridge, which works in collaboration with UN Environment, under the banner of UNEP-WCMC.  Our mission is to evaluate and highlight the many values of biodiversity and put authoritative biodiversity knowledge at the centre of decision-making.  Since our establishment in the 1970s, the Centre has been at the forefront of the compilation, management, analysis and dissemination of global biodiversity information, and has an outstanding record of achievement.
