Description

We are seeking a dynamic, creative and responsive individual to join our Business and Biodiversity Programme as Associate Programme Officer. This role will work in close collaboration with other programmes at UNEP-WCMC to implement new and existing projects focussed on supporting improved biodiversity management by business.

Our team’s focus is on strengthening natural capital in private sector decision making. We strengthen the evidence-base for biodiversity and natural capital’s importance to the private sector through horizon scanning and scenario modelling; threat  and  opportunity  analysis; accounting  approaches; alongside corporate biodiversity and natural capital impact, risk and opportunity assessments.

Working with businesses and their influencers, you will help provide the tools, standards, methodologies and metrics, and technical advice for the private sector to integrate biodiversity and natural capital into business models and decision making.

You will have a demonstrated ability to produce high quality outputs with a focus on the intended audience. Furthermore, you will have an understanding of the essential characteristics of successful partnership-building and will be able to demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively.

If you have a genuine interest in working at the interface between business and biodiversity and hold a postgraduate qualification (MSc or higher) in a field related to biodiversity or environmental economics we want to hear from you.

To apply, please submit your application form, CV and covering letter by clicking on the link below by 19th October 2017.

Interviews are expected to take place during the week of 30th October. We recommend you register your interest quickly, as a decision may be taken to appoint somebody ahead of the closing date.

Candidates should note this is not a UN post and that only those eligible to work in the UK should apply.

The UN Environment World Conservation Monitoring Centre strives for a sustainable world for biodiversity and people. The Centre works towards this vision by providing strategic leadership, technical expertise, and project support to increase capacity and inspire decision makers to manage biodiversity and ecosystem services for people and the planet. The Centre has close relationships with the UN system and other partners in the public and private sector, which combines with the Centre’s extensive understanding of science and policy to produce knowledge on biodiversity and ecosystem services that makes a world of difference.
