Description

We are looking for a highly motivated and technically experienced Associate Programme Officer to work in the Protected Areas Programme, to support the development and management of projects relating to WCMC’s flagship products – namely the World Database on Protected Areas and Protected Planet.

Supporting the WDPA Team, you will ensure that the Protected Areas projects are managed and delivered to the highest level of quality, and on time and budget.  Using your understanding of the complex issues surrounding protected areas and information management you will manage relationships with a large variety of stakeholders and partners.

We will provide you with the challenge of working on high profile conservation projects, where your work really makes a difference to the field of conservation in an area aligned to our strategic aims and broader global initiatives.  Using your communication, presentation and interpersonal skills you will provide advice and support to internal and external users and have the opportunity to represent UNEP-WCMC at relevant conferences and workshops to promote the Centre’s work.  In addition to training and development opportunities, we offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including generous pension contributions.

If you are looking for a rewarding and challenging post where you can impress us with your technical expertise and teamwork, we want to hear from you. Please complete a WCMC application form and send it with a CV and a short covering letter to recruitment@unep-wcmc.org by 8th October 2017.

Please note that this is not a UN post and we can only accept applications from those eligible to work in the UK.

The UN Environment World Conservation Monitoring Centre strives for a sustainable world for biodiversity and people. The Centre works towards this vision by providing strategic leadership, technical expertise, and project support to increase capacity and inspire decision makers to manage biodiversity and ecosystem services for people and the planet. The Centre has close relationships with the UN system and other partners in the public and private sector, which combines with the Centre’s extensive understanding of science and policy to produce knowledge on biodiversity and ecosystem services that makes a world of difference.
