Description

Are you looking to gain some survey experience? Then you’ll want to take this opportunity. Are you keen to develop your own consulting style? You’re in the right place. We are now accepting applications for our 6-month seasonal assistant ecologist positions, taking place from Spring 2023. The assessment centre for this role will be held on Tuesday 6th December in our Birmingham office.

We are an environmental consultancy getting the life/work balance right, trialling a 4-day work week until November 2022. So far, things are going rather well, so we are hopeful that this will become our permanent working pattern! For two days per week, we like to be in the office or have face-to-face contact with our colleagues on-site, because we know from experience that some of the most valuable learning is unscheduled and comes from being right in the middle of the action.

Working in the ecology planning sector, you will be assisting on field-based survey work as well as completing important data searches and analyses. You’ll also be contributing to the writing of reports and issuing recommendations on behalf of your colleagues. Whilst with us, you’ll have the opportunity to liaise with our clients and stakeholders too. You can expect to spend time away from home, including overnight stays, during the working week to visit sites across the country.

Here at Tyler Grange we are a company led by our values, committed to setting and raising standards both within our profession and for the communities that we are a part of. We’re looking for a new member of our tribe who:

– Holds an academic qualification in ecology or biological sciences

– Is experienced in software including MS Office, Magic Interactive Map and QGIS

– Has an awareness of the legislation governing ecological practices

– Considers themselves to be a proactive team player

– Has strong written and verbal communication skills including report writing

– Is interested in gaining individual species licences

– Holds a full UK driving licence

The people you collaborate with inside and outside of Tyler Grange are who shape your experience here. We are a tribe, a gathering of like-minded people who praise our colleagues, value our clients and give back to our communities. Why don’t you join us?

If you need any additional support from us during the application process, please reach out to Allie (allie.mason@tylergrange.co.uk) or include this in your application itself, as we are committed to ensuring that every candidate has equitable access to our opportunities.

Salary: £22,750 pro rata per annum (plus £3,000 HCLA if London based)

The deadline for applications is Tuesday 1st November 2022
