Description  

Ecology is an integral and valued part of PBA’s Environmental Service to clients. Our collaborative approach to delivering ecological consultancy advice gets to the core of our clients’ needs. This has been well received by all those we work with, and has underpinned consistent growth over the last few years, with established teams based in Reading and Bristol.

Our increasingly varied range of projects provides a fantastic foundation to develop our service across a broader range of sectors and locations.  Key to our plan for growth is recruiting a team into our Manchester office.

We are looking for a trusted advisor and colleague. Someone who’ll relish the opportunity to manage and develop a successful team, have sound commercial management and a background in supporting on a variety of projects, including multi-disciplinary schemes.

As this is new position it will be shaped by our successful candidate. We’re therefore looking for someone who has a vision for what it could become and is excited by the opportunities for advancement and career development.

Key responsibilities:

Develop the PBA ecology business in the external market to provide our existing and new clients with an enhanced range of services. 

  • Undertake technical review and approval of sub-contractors reports.
  • Effectively brief and manage ecology sub-contractors technical and financial performance.
  • Client liaison and development of ecology capability within the Practice.
  • Effectively manage and control resource.
  • Lead and support on bid writing, costing projects.
  • Commercial and financial management including the assessment of opportunities and risks.

 

About You

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Degree qualified in Ecology, Conservation, Earth Sciences of a related topic.
  • Chartered or Incorporated membership of a relevant professional institution.
  • Proven experience of team development and project management.
  • Excellent project and financial management skills.
  • In depth knowledge of relevant legislation and policy.
  • Proven experience of financial management and have the ability to effectively manage resources.
  • Experience of compiling fee proposals and project budgets.
  • Excellent communication and written skills with the ability to both compile and check reports.
  • Expert witness and public inquiry experience is highly desirable.
